About this role
Tamimi Steel and Membrane
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to lead the structural design, numerical analysis, and engineering delivery of landmark structural steelwork, pre-engineered frames, and tensile structures.
Tamimi is a well-established Saudi company specializing in steel and tensile membrane structures. One of our most iconic projects is the King Fahad National Library (KFNL) in Riyadh.
The key responsibilities include:
· Design & Structural Analysis: Perform 3D finite element analysis (FEA) and structural modeling for long-span steel structures, stadium canopies, trusses, and spatial frameworks under complex dynamic, wind, seismic, and thermal loads.
· Design Management: Work with specialist design and engineering consultancies managing the workflow to the client and third parties for approval.
· Tensile & Cable Integration: Analyze, model, and detail tensioned architectural systems, including cable networks, membrane interfaces (PTFE/ETFE/PVC), and specialized connection nodes.
· Code Compliance: Develop rigorous calculation reports fully compliant with the Saudi Building Code (SBC) as well as relevant international standards (AISC, ASCE 7, Eurocodes).
· Fabrication & Shop Detailing Coordination: Work alongside Tekla detailing teams to resolve connection geometries, bolt/weld assemblies, and fabrication tolerances, ensuring efficient shop production and site erection.
· Value Engineering & Peer Review: Evaluate tender designs to identify weight-optimization opportunities, rationalise member profiles, and ensure robust buildability.
· Site Support & Quality Assurance: Address Requests for Information (RFIs), inspect critical connection mock-ups, and resolve on-site structural technical queries.
Qualifications and Skills
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is a plus).
· Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of post-qualification experience in structural engineering design, with a demonstrated background in large-scale structural steel projects (e.g., football stadiums, arenas, airport terminals, or heavy spatial trusses).
· Codes & Standards: Excellent, hands-on working knowledge of the Saudi Building Code (SBC).
· Specialized Knowledge: Strong preference will be given to candidates with proven design/engineering experience in tensile membrane structures and tensioned cable systems.
· Software Tools: Proficiency in structural engineering analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, RFEM/Dlubal, or specialized form-finding software) and familiarity with BIM/Tekla workflows.
· Registration: SCE (Saudi Council of Engineers) registration or eligibility is highly preferred.
This is a challenging role in a high growth company.
It needs someone who is a structural steel expert, confident and willing to learn about tensile membrane structures
