About this role
We are seeking a highly experienced Shutdown HSE Trainer to support safety training activities during major shutdown/turnaround operations in Qatar.
The successful candidate must have an extensive industrial HSE and safety training experience (minimum 5 years) within Fertilizer, Oil & Gas, Chemical and/or Petrochemical environments and must have a bachelor's degree in engineering.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver HSE and safety training programs for employees, contractors, and shutdown personnel.
* Conduct shutdown-specific safety training and inductions in accordance with client requirements and site HSE procedures.
* Deliver training related to high-risk industrial activities, including Permit to Work (PTW), Working at Height, Confined Space Entry, Lifting Operations, Hot Work, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE, Emergency Response, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment.
* Ensure training content is relevant to fertilizer, chemical, petrochemical, and Oil & Gas operational environments.
* Conduct classroom-based and practical safety training sessions as required.
* Assess participants' understanding and competency through examinations, practical assessments, discussions, and other evaluation methods.
* Maintain accurate training attendance, assessment, and competency records.
* Ensure all training materials are aligned with applicable HSE standards, client procedures, and recognized industry best practices.
* Adapt training delivery to different workforce levels, including contractors and multinational workforces.
* Support shutdown HSE teams in reinforcing critical safety requirements and safe working practices.
* Identify training gaps and provide recommendations for additional or refresher training.
* Promote a strong safety culture and encourage active participation during training sessions.
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized university – MANDATORY.
* NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent qualification from an internationally recognized institution – MANDATORY.
* IADT (International Award in Delivering Training) or equivalent accredited Trainer/Train-the-Trainer qualification – MANDATORY.
* Minimum 5 years of HSE/Safety training experience.
* Proven experience delivering similar safety training within Fertilizer, Oil & Gas, Chemical and/or Petrochemical industries.
* Previous experience working or delivering training during shutdowns/turnarounds is highly preferred.
* Strong knowledge of industrial HSE practices and high-risk activities.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
* Fluency in English and multilingual communication skills (Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Nepali etc.)
Trainer Approval Requirements
Shortlisted candidates must be able to provide clear evidence of:
* Industries where similar safety training has been delivered
* Types of HSE/safety courses previously conducted
* Total years of direct industrial experience
* Minimum 5 years of safety training experience
* Shutdown/turnaround training experience
* Copies of relevant academic and professional certifications
Please note: Candidates who do not hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, NEBOSH IGC (or equivalent) and IADT/approved trainer qualification (or equivalent) will not be considered.
