About this role
We are looking for an experienced BI Developer with strong hands-on expertise in Power BI, Power BI Report Server (PBIRS), SSRS, SQL Server, and DAX to design, develop, and optimize business intelligence solutions within an on-premise Microsoft BI environment. The role will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and data architects to deliver governed dashboards, paginated reports, semantic models, and data-driven insights.
Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and paginated reports using Power BI Report Server (PBIRS) and SSRS.
* Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements, define KPIs, and translate business needs into scalable BI and ETL solutions.
* Build and maintain governed measures, calculations, KPI definitions, and semantic models.
* Perform source-to-target and source-to-report reconciliation to validate data and reporting accuracy.
* Implement and manage Row-Level Security (RLS), access controls, versioning, and change management across reports, dashboards, and ETL artifacts.
* Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data extraction processes.
* Optimize reports, DAX calculations, SQL queries, semantic models, and ETL processes for improved performance.
* Apply dimensional modelling concepts including star schema, fact and dimension tables, slowly changing dimensions, conformed dimensions, fact table grain, and surrogate keys.
* Perform ad-hoc data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, risks, and business opportunities.
* Collaborate with data engineering and architecture teams to ensure BI solutions follow enterprise data standards and governance practices.
* Train and support business users in self-service analytics within governed boundaries.
* Participate in peer reviews and ensure adherence to BI, reporting, ETL, and development standards.
* Troubleshoot data, reporting, performance, and access-related issues and coordinate with relevant teams for resolution.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.
* 6–8 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Integration, Data Analytics, or related roles.
* Strong hands-on experience with Power BI and publishing reports to Power BI Report Server (PBIRS).
* Strong experience developing SSRS and paginated reports.
* Proficiency in DAX, including measures, calculated columns, and KPI expressions.
* Strong SQL Server skills, including complex joins, stored procedures, CTEs, views, and query tuning.
* Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and data warehousing concepts.
* Hands-on experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) in Power BI.
* Experience with ETL and data integration concepts and processes.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Experience in financial services, investment banking, banking, or fintech will be preferred.
* Experience with Power BI Report Server administration, including scheduling, subscriptions, folder security, and access management, will be an advantage.
* Experience working in regulated environments involving data classification, sensitivity labelling, and access governance will be preferred.
* Experience with Talend or other enterprise ETL/data integration platforms will be an advantage.
* Relevant certifications in Power BI, Microsoft BI, Data Analytics, or related technologies will be preferred.
