About this role
Haute Couture Pattern Master & Creative Cutter
Location: Dubai, UAE
Company: Chic & Holland
Employment: Full-Time
About the Role
Chic & Holland is looking for a highly skilled Haute Couture Pattern Master & Creative Cutter to join our Dubai atelier.
We are looking for someone with a strong creative eye as well as exceptional technical ability — someone who can look at a fashion sketch, reference image or design concept and understand how to translate it into a beautifully constructed couture garment.
The ideal candidate must be highly experienced in luxury eveningwear, couture gowns, corsetry and structured garments and confident developing complex designs from concept to final pattern.
Key Responsibilities
* Interpret fashion sketches, illustrations, reference images and design concepts.
* Translate creative ideas into technically accurate couture patterns.
* Create patterns from scratch for evening gowns, red-carpet pieces, pageant gowns and couture garments.
* Develop patterns through both flat pattern cutting and draping/moulage on the mannequin.
* Understand proportions and suggest technical solutions to achieve the designer's intended silhouette.
* Create structured bodices, corsets, cups, boning, internal foundations and complex gown constructions.
* Develop toiles and first samples and correct patterns after fittings.
* Cut first samples and luxury fabrics with exceptional precision.
* Work confidently with tulle, mesh, lace, silk, satin, organza, stretch fabrics, feathers and heavily embellished/beaded fabrics.
* Understand placement and cutting requirements for embroidered and embellished materials.
* Conduct fittings and identify fit, balance and construction issues.
* Modify and perfect patterns until the desired silhouette and fit are achieved.
* Work closely with the Creative Director, designers, tailors and embroidery team during sample development.
* Provide technical guidance to tailors on complicated garment construction.
* Maintain an organized library of master patterns and approved styles.
* Support grading and production pattern development when required.
What We Are Looking For
* Minimum2-3 yearsof experience in couture, luxury eveningwear, bridal, pageant or high-end women's fashion.
* Exceptional manual pattern-making and cutting skills.
* Strong draping/moulage ability.
* Excellent understanding of couture garment construction.
* Strong experience with corsetry and structured evening gowns.
* Ability to create a pattern directly from a sketch or reference image.
* Strong understanding of women's body proportions, balance and fit.
* Experience working with delicate, stretch and heavily embellished fabrics.
* Ability to creatively solve construction challenges rather than simply follow an existing pattern.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Able to work independently and within a fast-paced couture development environment.
* CAD pattern-making knowledge is an advantage, but excellent manual pattern-making skills are essential.
Portfolio Requirement
Applicants must submit:
* CV
* Portfolio/photos of previous couture work
* Examples of garments they personally patterned
* Examples of structured/corseted gowns
* Photos of draping or pattern-development work, where available
